Welcome to Active Mind's Preschool!

Active Minds Preschool focuses on teaching 3 and 4-year olds the skills they need to start kindergarten, including letter recognition and sounds, writing, shapes, colors, numbers, social skills, music, science, fun and much, much more! We have a lot of hands on learning and crafts to help cement the concepts being taught. Children will learn social skills and get one-on-one attention in a small classroom setting of only six children.

Curriculum

Active Minds preschool curriculum focuses on getting children ready for preschool. For letters and writing we use the "Writing Without Tears" curriculum, which teaches writing by building and writing letters. Each week a letter is covered along with a color, shape or number.  By the end of the year, all letters, numbers one through ten and all colors and shapes will be covered. Additionally, there is a weekly theme that focuses on a science or literature theme.  For all activities, crafts, songs, and imaginative play are used to reinforced the themes and lessons. Learning is achieved in a fun, safe environment where the curriculum captures the children's attention and makes for a great educational experience!  Below are examples of some crafts and activities from last year:

Grass heads.  We studied how plants grow and then watched our grass heads grow "hair"
Gourd People!  We made Gourd people for the letter "G"
At Thanksgiving we talked about being Thankful and helping others. Each child donated food and we made a Thanksgiving basket and donated it to the Meridian Food Bank. The Food Bank so so grateful for our preschoolers!
Fire Station field Trip!  Our younger class visited the fire station. They got to meet a real fire man and sit in the fire truck! We also had fun field trips to the Pumpkin Patch, Zoo Boise and the MK Nature center.
